COMMUNITY SERVICE REPORT from KERRY WELCH
We have checked in with both of our groups that we support through Community Service. Here is what we have heard back from them:
Even though Covid 19 has made it impossible for People Helping People to operate as usual, they have been able to continue to provide emergency food to anyone in need on Tuesday mornings. They missed out on the Postal Workers Food Drive (A food drive that has in the past been a source of thousands of pounds of food for their pantry), but due to the amazing generosity of the Republic community they have been able to continue to provide much needed support to those who have needed food.
On May 13 the Ozarks food Harvest Mobile Pantry made a stop at PHP. They delivered food boxes, produce, bakery and hygiene items that were distributed by the National Guard.
Monetary donations are always appreciated and are tax deductible. Donations can be sent to:
People Helping People
PO Box 505
Republic, MO. 65738-0505
We also checked in with Republic Pregnancy Resource Center and found that they too have been providing much needed support to our community through this pandemic. They handed out 80% more diapers and wipes during the COVID 19
Shut down. They were there at the center, the client called, and they got it ready and handed it out the door to them. RPRC helped 40 new clients during that period. They indicated that more of their past clients started coming back, as they had lost their jobs or they could not find diapers or wipes.
They are seeing and helping 14 of the 40 new clients. Total clients per week 30 to 45.
They too can use monetary donations (although they have included a list of items they could take as donations also). Donations can be sent to:
RPRC
291 US Hwy 60 West
Republic, MO 65738
They are needing sleepers for boys and girls newborn to 2T
Teething rings
Baby bottles and nipples
Reminder: We know many of you are either donating financially or are volunteering to do shopping for elderly, helping neighbors, passing out food or essential items, etc. Please remember to send me your volunteer hours, cash donations, item donation counts, etc. We want to be sure all of our Community Service hours and donations get counted! Send your totals to [email protected]
Thank you for continuing to show your support in our community!

INFORMATION AND PROTECTIVE SERVICES REPORT
Have you heard about Grandkid Scams? Here is how they work. You get a call. "Hey Grandma, I need money for bail." Or money for a medical bill. Or money for some other kind of trouble. The caller says its urgent--and tells you to keep it a secret.
But is the caller who you think it is? Scammers are good at pretending to be someone they're not. They can be convincing: sometimes using information from social networking sites, or hacking into your loved one's email account, to make it seem more real. And they'll pressure you to send money before you have time to think.
